Call for Papers - SymfonyCon Disneyland Paris 2020

We would like to invite the worldwide Symfony Community to participate in the Call for Papers and the Call for Trainers. For this conference, we are looking for:

  • Talks related to Symfony and its ecosystem.
  • Original talks that haven't been delivered in previous conferences.
  • Proposals must be sent until the 8th of June 2020 23:59.

All sessions should last for 40 minutes, Q&A included. We usually receive a lot of repeated talk proposals. We tend to receive many similar subject proposals, so please consider sending several ideas to increase your chances of being selected.

We are also looking for:

  • Workshops related to Symfony and its ecosystem not yet scheduled.
  • Experienced trainers to deliver the workshops.
  • Proposals must be sent until the 8th of June 2020 23:59.

Workshops can last one or two days - they are organized on December 1st and 2nd. Prefix the title of your proposal with [workshop] to differentiate them from regular talks. Join us at to share your expertise on technologies related to Symfony! Please consider sending talk proposals also to increase your chances of being selected.

Selection Criteria

These are some of the criteria used in the talk selection process:

  • Real-life use cases of Symfony (any project size will be considered, not only the big ones) are prioritized over theoretical talks.
  • Symfony related talks are prioritized over generic PHP talks.
  • Talks about projects closely related to Symfony (Monolog, Doctrine, etc.) are prioritized over third-party projects.
  • As long as they are focused on Symfony development, the following themes are priority: DevOps, testing, microservices, e-commerce, integration with other projects
  • If you want to present your talk with someone else, please note that we cover speaker expenses for only one speaker (conference ticket included) and that only one speaker will be listed on the conference program.
  • When you submit your talk description, be sure that you have the right to speak publicly about the project or topic you will present during the conference (all information mentioned in your talk submission will appear on the website). All topics which require approval to be announced will not be considered.

For workshops:

  • If the workshop has already been organized please send us the comments sent by the attendees (If any).
  • You must have an experience as a workshop trainer and must be able to prove it (past link to workshop details, surveys realized after the workshop to the attendees…).
  • You must have an experience in the field of the workshop topic and be able to prove it.
  • Symfony related workshops are prioritized over generic PHP workshops.
  • If you want to present your workshop with someone else, please mention the name of the person you’d like to do the workshop with, along with their experience as a workshop trainer and about the workshop topic (maximum of 2 trainers per workshop).
  • When you submit your workshop description, be sure that you have the right to use the workshop materials you’ll share with the attendees (all information mentioned in your workshop submission will appear on the website).
  • We will review your workshop's slides during the selection process: please have them ready.

Terms and Conditions

  • All sessions will be recorded in video and published after the conference. By submitting a proposal you consent to be recorded and waive any rights or compensation for it.
  • A technical committee will select the sessions among the proposals received at the closing deadline.
  • The selected speakers will be contacted by email.
  • Non-European speakers are eligible for up to 600 euros travel cost reimbursement; European speakers are eligible for up to 200 euros travel cost reimbursement and both are eligible for up to 2 nights accommodations. All speakers will receive a free conference ticket.

For workshops:

  • Workshops are part of the global experience of the SymfonyCon, attendees registered to the workshops cannot be disappointed. By submitting a workshop proposal, you declare to be free and available to present the workshop on December 1st or 2nd.
  • A technical committee will select the workshops among the proposals received at the closing deadline.
  • The selected trainers will be contacted by email.
  • If you are selected and your workshop doesn’t have the minimum number of attendees to be organized a month before the conference, your workshop will be canceled.
  • For each selected workshop trainer, we’ll entirely cover the transport fees and book an hotel room to attend the workshops. We’ll offer each workshop trainer a free conference ticket to attend the conference.
